Hi to all and compliments of the season, I hope everybody had a great festive season and got enough rest, because this year! Is a huge one in terms of motoring.
My family decided to drive down to the Mother City and spend our holidays on the coast. We usually drive down during the day so we can appreciate the wonderful views our land has to offer. This time round we decided otherwise and hit he road at night. My dad recently bought the face lift Audi A6 20 T continuous variable transmission (CVT). I nicked named her Queen Mary 2, because its quite a big car, broad and long. One would think that it is a raw gas guzzler in town and on the long road. In town depending on how heavy your foot is you could average 600 - 650 km on a full tank, which is rather impressive judging on its size. What impressed me the most was when we took her onto the long road down to Cape Town.
The A6 20 T model has an 80 lire tank, but to my dad surprise it took down more then 80 litres almost 93 litres. This was just mind boggling as the owners manual states that it has an 80 litre tank, this lead me to believe that it has an emergency reserve tank. We never got round to establish that and still today it baffles us. On the long road this cars fuel consumption did nothing but impress. Averaging between speeds of 120km/h to 140km/h plus a load of luggage as well as four occupants the consumption never exceeded 12L per 100km this figure includes overtaking.
The next morning we approached Lainsburg with a fuel consumption and trip recording of 1120km travelled so far, we still had enough fuel to drive for the next 110km. It is quite commendable , really to build a car of that size which is still capable of producing such outstanding figures. Well done to Audi!
Tell me about your cars fuel consumption and what you think.
